Santa Cruz community residents are invited to enjoy an afternoon on the lawn at High Street Community Church to support Second Harvest Food Bank with Andrew’s lemonade and refreshments and enjoy music by the Santa Cruz High School Jazz Bands (Music from 1-3 pm).

You can also pick up Fire Prevention and Safety Information from the Santa Cruz Fire Department and connect with local Firewise Neighborhoods (Highland and Prospect Heights) participants to learn about improving emergency communication and wildfire preparedness in their own neighborhoods.

The backstory: When Andrew Trowbridge was 9 years old, he was deeply concerned about people in the community with food insecurity. The philanthropic-minded youngster decided to hold a fundraiser for Second Harvest Food Bank, and he did what generations of kids have done to make money: he set up a lemonade stand. Five years and more than $6,000 in donations later, the now 14- year-old Santa Cruz High School freshman is gearing up for Andrew’s 5th Annual Lemonade Stand fundraiser. “Andrew gives 100% of what he makes to Second Harvest Food Bank,” said Todd Trowbridge, Andrew’s father. “Each dollar donated to Second Harvest provides 4 meals.”

This is a free, outdoor, family-friendly, drop-in event where you can speak to local fire safety experts, pick up information on how to prepare & protect your home and family from wildfires, and meet your neighbors.

If you live in the Highland neighborhood, please join our Firewise community and fill out the Firewise Neighbor Resource Survey!
